Verify the alleged error

Start by saving the exact answer, prompt, surface, time, and linked sources. Identify the disputed claim precisely. Is the price wrong, the plan condition missing, or the feature attributed to a different product? Check against current public documentation and an accountable product owner. Do not label an answer inaccurate because it expresses an unfavorable but defensible opinion. Separate factual errors from subjective evaluations. This distinction focuses the response on claims the company can substantiate and avoids turning ordinary criticism into a campaign to suppress information buyers may legitimately find useful.

Find the public source conflict

Open the citations and inspect your own pages for contradictory statements. Old blog posts, cached examples, and stale integration lists can disagree with a recently updated pricing page. Map each important claim to its best current source. If the answer cites no source, record that limitation rather than inventing an origin story. You may not be able to determine why it produced the statement. A correct investigation distinguishes known public inconsistencies from hypotheses about the model, giving the team concrete material to fix without claiming insight into hidden retrieval or generation processes.

Correct facts where you have control

Hypothetical example: a fictional scheduling app removed a paid feature limit, but an old help article still describes it. The team updates the help article, checks related comparison pages, and adds clear plan context to the main feature page. It records the effective date and has support review the wording. If an external review remains wrong, the team can prepare a factual correction request supported by current documentation. It should not demand removal of unrelated criticism or promise that a third-party publisher's update will immediately change every AI answer.

Use appropriate feedback mechanisms

Where a product offers feedback or correction channels, submit a concise report through an authorized process. Include the exact claim, supporting source, and reason it is inaccurate. Avoid vague requests to improve the brand's ranking or make recommendations more positive. Keep a record of what was submitted and any response. Feedback is a reporting step, not a guaranteed remedy. Continue maintaining accurate public facts and communicating directly with affected users when needed. If the error materially affects purchasing or setup, give customer-facing teams a concise explanation they can use consistently.

Review recurrence responsibly

Recheck a stable set of relevant questions after corrections, preserving the original context where possible. Track whether the specific factual error recurs rather than celebrating any positive mention as success. An answer can omit the false claim without providing the correct explanation, so inspect the text. Keep counts and examples, especially when the sample is small. Close the internal issue when controlled sources and customer communications are corrected, while recording unresolved external observations separately. This provides an honest operational outcome without implying complete control over independent systems, publishers, or future generated responses.
